The more I'm in ministry, the more I'm learning that we need to guard ourselves against "greed."

Greed can take several forms, wanting a "bigger" church but not wanting to relenquish the control that it requires. Wanting an incredible ministry, but not taking the time to pour into leaders. Wanting people to "get it" without taking the time and effort to clearly articulate/live that for them.

I think we often WANT without GIVING. We want something of great value at no cost.

I am in a wilderness time right now when I am being told that I can no longer be who I am. I am naturally an introvert and yet God has called me to ministry. Those who have been in ministry for a while to whom I have turned for help in my present difficulties are telling me that I can no longer be me, that I have to become someone else in order to minister to those to whom I am ministering. That pride of which you spoke is resisting this mightily and causing me much trouble. Dying to self is an aspect of ministry that I do not remember being covered in seminary and yet it seems, in my instance especially, to be what is required of me.

Wow! What a great article. I am just entering into ministry (haven't even gotten to the full time place yet but I have been deeply involved & feel called to full time ministry) and I have already experienced some of this but not all. It was great to be able to relate in areas (I'm glad it's just not me. Sometimes I've felt crazy haha) and also to get the heads up on things I haven't experienced yet. Truly a blessing to me & encouraged me greatly. Thanks so much. May *He* increase!!
